We provide a range of activities and schemes, many of which are linked into National Schemes.

BRIGHT SPARKS


 

ElectricityKey Stage 2

 

A one day, hands on workshop aligned to the National Curriculum which aims to teach young people about electricity. The programme is delivered by both the Cumbria and the Greater Manchester STEM Centres, working in partnership with Electricity North West. 


Electricity North West is the company that operates and maintains the region's electricity network. They are committed to:

  • supporting education
  • improving employability skills and
  • better equipping young people for careers in science based activities.


Bright Sparks is primarily aimed at years 4 - 6 pupils but can also be adapted and delivered to all Key Stage 2 pupils.

CLEAPSS

 

 

We have worked in partnership with

CLEAPSS for many years, mainly

running courses concerned with

Health and Safety matters in Chemistry,

Microbiology and Pressure Vessels.


Recent Courses for Technicians and Teachers

held in February 2014 at Preston College,

and listed for information, were:


·        Supporting Safe Practical Microbiology

·        Safety Inspections of autoclaves, pressure cookers and model steam engines

·        Safe and Successful Investigative Microbiology
